Country Club of Darien, Environmental Care Center
CWA's phase work continued with the new "ECC".
It's name implies its important role in maintenance and enhancement
of club golf course to strict environmental standards. It houses storage
and maintenance of landscape equipment, and the management of site
materials such as, plants, soils, fertilizers and pesticides. It has
a modern wash down and filtering system that manages the discharged
of water to storm and sanitary sewer. There are four new buildings:
main maintenance shed, plant care building, bulk/soils storage, and
a member's toilet.
The materials were chosen for sustainability,
an environmental aesthetic as well as building economy.
It is designed to disappear on the site -
rarely seen by public or neighbors and heavily screened with new planting
all around.
