Charkit Chemical Corp., Norwalk
This building had been an automobile repair
shop and warehouse in the waterfront district of South Norwalk. Charkit
completed a gut renovation, exposing all of the old heavy timber and
steel framing. The design also added some modern details and furnishings.
The circular stair and balcony was rebult with new steel and glass
railings. Acoustic ceiling "beans" of various rounded shapes
float below the older wood and steel structure.
